Which vegetable oil is best for my skin?

If you're wondering which vegetable oil is right for your skin, before choosing one, you need to know your skin type! Not always easy! So here are a few tips to help you better identify your skin, determine its health, and take care of it.
Virgin oils are produced by cold extraction. This preserves all their active ingredients and powerful properties, including their high content of essential fatty acids and antioxidant vitamin E, which has beneficial effects against skin aging.
RECOGNIZING YOUR SKIN TYPE
– Combination skin is characterized by shine on the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). Generally, the cheeks are drier than the rest of the face.
– Dry skin feels tight and causes an unpleasant sensation. It also tends to show signs of aging easily (wrinkles, fine lines, creases).
Sensitive or reactive skin can be combination, dry, or oily. The common characteristic of all so-called sensitive or reactive skin types is their sensitivity to external elements: heat, cold, the skincare products used, diet, etc.
– Oily skin is recognizable by its enlarged pores and shine all over the face.

CHOOSE A SUITABLE VEGETABLE OIL
Which vegetable oil is best for my oily / acne-prone skin ?
Oily skin is recognizable by its visible pores, oily appearance, thickness when pinched, and relative firmness and elasticity. It is characterized by an overproduction of sebum. Avoid harsh cleansing methods, as these will have the opposite effect, stimulating the sebaceous glands and tricking the skin into thinking it lacks oil. Contrary to popular belief, oily skin needs nourishment and hydration. It's necessary to rebalance the skin and regulate sebum production with gentle, non-comedogenic plant-based oils.
Oils suitable for oily skin:
– Apricot kernel oil : the gentlest and most versatile of oils. It brightens the complexion thanks to its omega 6 and provitamin A.
– Hazelnut oil : neutral, penetrating and satiny for the skin, it is rich in omega 9 and vitamin E and phytosterols .
– Jojoba oil : Thanks to its composition being close to that of sebum, Jojoba signals to the skin that it is properly protected.
– Prickly pear oil : This is a dry oil, quickly absorbed by the epidermis. It leaves no greasy residue, tightens pores, refines skin texture, and reduces acne scars. Its regulating action is also ideal for combination to oily skin.
– Carrot oil macerate : very useful for rebalancing oily skin because it will penetrate the skin quickly and regulate the hydrolipidic film.
Oils to avoid for oily skin because they are comedogenic include coconut oil, sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil, castor oil, rosehip oil, rosehip oil and macadamia oil.
Oils for combination skin
Combination skin is characterized by being both oily and dry. The T-zone (chin, nose, forehead) is oily, while the rest of the face (cheeks, neck, and around the eyes) is dry. Combination skin is often mistaken for oily skin. Therefore, the advice is the same: avoid scrubs and other harsh products, and care for your skin gently.
Oils suitable for combination skin:
– Grape seed oil : exfoliating , penetrating, nourishing and sebum-regulating. This oil regulates sebum and also prevents the appearance of wrinkles.
– Argan oil : anti-aging, restorative and protective, rich in vitamins and antioxidants (vitamin E, vitamin A). Its anti-inflammatory and healing action allows small pimples and acne scars to disappear more quickly.
– Jojoba vegetable oil : Thanks to its composition close to that of sebum, Jojoba signals to the skin that it is adequately protected on the T-zone while protecting the drier areas of the face.
– Hazelnut oil : neutral, penetrating and satiny for the skin, it is rich in omega 9 and vitamin E and phytosterols .
– Apricot kernel oil : the gentlest and most versatile of oils. It brightens the complexion thanks to its omega 6 and provitamin A.
– Prickly pear oil : This is a dry oil, quickly absorbed by the epidermis. It leaves no greasy residue, tightens pores, refines skin texture , and reduces scars. Its regulating action is also ideal for combination to oily skin .
Oils for dry skin
In the case of dry skin, the hydrolipidic film that protects the skin is weakened and cannot fulfill its protective role. This is often due to a lack of sebum or frequent aggressions that damage the skin barrier. The water present in the skin evaporates, and the skin dries out. This is why it is important to protect yourself from the products you use, from exposure to the sun, wind, and temperature changes.
You can recognize dry skin if the skin texture is fine, if the skin feels rough and very thin to the touch, and if it is uncomfortable after showering.
Oils suitable for dry skin:
– Borage oil : ideal for mature or atopic skin (eczema ) . It is one of the richest in omega-6 fatty acids and antioxidants. It has a calming effect on the skin.
– Wheat germ oil : promotes cell regeneration, while nourishing the skin .
– Avocado oil : helps to nourish the skin and rebuild the hydrolipidic film, accelerating cell regeneration.
– Prickly pear oil : a powerful antioxidant, it reduces blemishes, protects the skin from dehydration and prevents sagging .
– Camellia ( Green Tea ) oil : Very gentle, it has protective, softening, and emollient properties for the skin. It provides a feeling of comfort and gives the skin a velvety feel, while regulating the skin 's natural hydration system.
– Desert date oil : very dry to the touch, nourishing and softening , it helps maintain good skin hydration. Regenerating, repairing and rich in antioxidants, this oil helps the skin fight against aggressions and free radicals.
Oils for sensitive skin
Sensitive and reactive skin can affect combination, dry, or oily skin. Sensitive skin is characterized by sensations of itching, redness, tightness, and discomfort. Many external factors contribute to this: climate, pollution, sun exposure, etc. Finding the right skincare product can be challenging because this type of skin is so reactive. In all cases, it's essential to nourish the skin with gentle, anti-inflammatory oils to provide optimal protection.
Vegetable oils are particularly suitable because they are well-tolerated, soothing, and restorative:
– Calendula macerate : exceptional anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic action; it will also nourish and soften the skin.
– Camellia oil : Very gentle, it has protective, softening and emollient properties for the skin. It provides a feeling of comfort to the skin and gives it a velvety feel, while regulating the skin's natural hydration system.
– Hemp oil : calms, softens and protects the skin thanks to its omega 6 and omega 3. It is also soothing and anti-redness.
– Kukui oil : renowned for calming sensitive skin, it is anti- inflammatory , regenerating, repairing, and very well tolerated by the skin.
– Evening primrose oil : It soothes skin prone to irritation and protects against external aggressions (sun, wind, cold, pollution) by restoring the skin's hydrolipidic film.
